I struggle to get through this, even on the first region Im getting killed constantly. Its frustrating that Yoki have impenetrable poise and even smashing their face with a giant axe power attack does nothing to interrupt their attacks. Can someone give me some help on a build? I heard back when it launched that Ninjitsu builds were really OP. But I just had a visitor mage guy who destroyed the second boss bat lady in like 15 seconds and slowed her down with some spell, so that also seemed really good.
And what weapons are the best? For people of lesser skill? Showing 1 - 2 of 2 comments. Deostades View Profile View Posts. Every weapon type is perfectly viable at all levels of play. That said, the base Sword is easy to figure out and has a lot of very useful skills.
You'll want to unlock Flowing Shadows as soon as it becomes available.
Nioh: How to Use a Sword Build
Spears are pretty easy to pick up as well, and the extra distance at which you are able to engage can give you that crucial second of wind up time to dodge or block.
Axes, interestingly enough, are probably not great beginner weapons, as they take a fair amount of tricky timing to get the best effect out of their powerful swings. This is a guy that chose Axes as his starting weapon speaking.
Kusarigama are difficult to master, but once you do, virtually no Yokai in the game will last long against you. Now, poise, or Ki as it's known in this game, works differently for human and Yokai. Human opponents, like you, use Ki in attacking and dodging, and when you Break their Ki, they go into an exhaust state like you, open for a Grapple move. Yokai, however, treat Ki like a secondary layer of armor that you strip away by attacking. Their movements do not use Ki, and as long as they still have Ki left over, few moves will stagger them.
However, most Yokai have a big glowing horn or other obvious weak spot. Hit that weak spot, and your instantly Break their Ki, often sending them flat on the ground, and anything more substantial than a sneeze will stun-lock them easily. High Stance on most weapons has an easy to abuse combo or move that easily hits most Yokai weak spots without issue. Ninjutsu and Onmyo are both very powerful, and can make a huge difference in your playstyle.
Shuriken and Kunai can lock opponents into blocking while their Ki is drained, or knock several foes down from vulnerable states. Hino-Enma, the second boss you mentioned, is best knocked out of her flying state with some Kunai.
Onmo magics have a huge variety of Talismans, or spells, that you can use. One, Sloth, is the one you described, and on default difficulty can fairly be called an Instant Win Button. Others become exponentially more useful as time and difficulty increase, but there are few Onmyo that can't be used to great effect. As far as general builds: experiment! At your stage of the game there's no bad build, just one that you haven't mastered yet. Add to that each Main mission and many Side missions will unlock new armors and weapons, and you're spoilt for choice all the way through the last DLC.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts.

Nioh: How to Use a Dual Swords Build
My preference is sword. So I am going to try whatever you suggest. What is that rain sword? It is quite famous in forums. How does its damage output compared to other weapon? DPS, tonfa will probably outclass anything besides maybe a kasurigama in LW. However, build for back damage and iai and it might just be the most powerful thing in the game, a true glass canon. That said, I haven't played with all weapons and their skills in the game so I really don't know what, if anything, would be more powerful than a 'from behind iai' using the Dragon Ninja 7pc.

Now I must warn the reader that I myself am not a huge fan of the sword moveset, but I have compiled a list of interesting skills that will guide you past the worst stinkers and provide you with some useful information.
In Nioh the sword is a jack of all trades weapon with no particular specilization, which is both its strength and its weakness. It summons an energy wave that hits all enemies around you, but its range is limited. Another move you want to get right away is Swallow's Wing. Swallow's Wing is a slash and backstep that can be used to vary and lengthen any quick attack combo of any stance.
If you want to, you can acquire Morning Moon. This combo ender only functions in High Stance, but greatly improves its potential damage. Of course you will have to have to trade out Swallow's Wing in High Stance for Morning Moonwhich means you'll lose that fast combo ender in High Stance.
These skills will activate on all weapon trees, and are required to acquire new skills. Living Water is quite useful, and Grapple is required to properly exploit Paralysis. You can also unlock Indomitable Spiritwhich is helpful for recovering Ki when your health is low, but you'll have to get past Kick to get it. Make sure you specify that you don't want Kick to overwrite Swallow's Wingunless you absolutely want to try Kick.
Sword of Discernment is a square based alternative to Sword Kiwhich is not strictly speaking required. Swift Step is a very handy trick for getting behind large enemies.
Flowing Shadow is a skill I absolutely recommend you get. You have to switch out Sword Ki for it, but you acquire a really damaging and flexible skill. Flowing Shadow is ideally used right after an enemy attack, and you can easily stunlock light enemies using just this skill.
The Mystic Art of my preference is Sword of Execution. The strong attack stabbing combo is really handy for exploiting openings and just generally outranging enemies. The quick attack combo allows you to do good damage, while still watching out for extra enemies by performing wide horizontal swings.
If you've got Morning Moon then you've got a properly damaging High Stance. The Low Stance quick attack combo is really fast and good for inflicting Status Effectsbut its range is really short.Nioh - EASY Paralytic Groundfire Marobashi Farm (WAY OF THE WISE)
The Low Stance strong attack combo inflicts a lot of damage, and can function as an alternative for the Mid Stance quick attack combo. The Sohaya Tsurugi is a high quality sword that belongs to the Tranquil Foundations Setand it inherently deals Earth damage.
It counts as a Tachi.

If you don't have the preorder armor, kill people's shades in the first zone, you can literally farm an entire set of the desired set within a few hours of starting the game Not that great of a guide, especially for those who don't have acess to the Pre order bonuses. This has potential but right now lacks any guidence, talk about weapon choices and skills too. I know you have heart Implying single sword in there and the melee weapon being "Rikari" which is a single sword.
Unlike others where they all have movesets and spcify weapons since a broadsword and a longsword are TOTALLY different move sets Ni-Oh's stance system and loot system make's it it's own game. Plus skills. Again, this needs a lot of work but has wonderful potential. Hey there, great build. Because they are what I'm most interested in. Nioh: How to Use a Sword Build
Submit Submit Close. The Sword has a very fast attack speed, as well as powerful High Stance combo. If you are good with Iai Quick Draw way back in Nioh, you will feel right at home with the new Nioh 2. The description is simple, it increases the Ki Damage to Yokais. Not much of an attractive option compare to stuff like Active Skill Damage, Melee Damage or any other skill that straight up increases your attack power.
However, by depleting the Ki Bar to Zero, your attack can then stagger the Yokais, interuptting them from powerful attacks.
Combine this with buff like Damage Boost to Zero Ki enemies, you got yourself a powerful affix that are left out to be used. On my playthrough, all Yokais can be inflicted with. Along with this, Ki and Ki Recovery Speed is also upgraded. With this, Sword is one of the weapons that has the most generous Ki bar.
With some good Ki Pulse practice, you can never worry about the Ki bar for this build. This allows a combination with Odachi or Dual Sword is pretty usable for Sword player. This build can still viable in Nioh 2, so if you want to go with that approach, the same armor set can still be used.
However, this armor set is a little hard to drop. During my playthrough, I only obtained around three pieces of the entire armor. This is to enable the set bonuses as well.
In the beginning, you are good to go with light Armor, after that, try farming for the Kingo Armor — which has a good overall stat boosts for Sword. The Kingo Armor set has a change compare to previous bonus in Nioh. At 6 pieces, you get Melee Ki Damage boosts, this is a must have for this build, as it further enhance your gameplay.
Another alternative for Kingo before you get the full set is the Master Swordsman Armor set This is from the guy you will need to fight in Dojo Mission for unlocking Samurai Skils Or later on when you reach high proficiency with Sword. This set is a standard armor set for Sword with focus on Active Skill Damage and Melee Damage with the following bonuses.
The ideal Magic stat for this build is around On Dream of Samurai, you are good to go with 30 in Magic, which is enough for you to have 38 Magic Capacity — enough to equip a full 4 slot buff and de buff.

This weapon is way better on paper then in game, it really is too balanced giving little reason to bother with it and Pretty sure there is an entry missing. Will have to check later, it's a red coloured sword with hooked blade similar to the Taima Kuniyuki. Hey, Anyone knows what William holds as katana in the cinematic trailers and intro? Just curious. What's better to start with? Single or twin katana? I wanna use this to start. Why are there 2 Kiku-Ichimonji's on this chart?
